I found lulu awhile back and am curious if it is a recommended way to make your own books?
Have any of you or friends of yours gone through the process?
Is there any upfront costs? how is the distribution?
the process? headaches?
Any and all feedback is welcome! oh and here's a pic for your click X)

thanks in advance
Joe
I made some inquiries with people I thought had used it but it turns out I was mistaken, so no dice there.
ReplyDeletepretty sick drawing. thank you for telling me what you use to draw. I got a wacom bamboo its a lower end tablet but its sweet. Im still getting used to it. i drew the joker on my page. i dont know what lulu is or anything so i cant help you out on that but ill buy a copy of whatever you decide on making
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteWill you paint it?
CapnG: cool man-got some replies on twitter and it's all good apparently :)
ReplyDeleteConnor:thanks Connor, I've never tried the bamboo but I've heard good things :) the upper end wacom tablets etc are just icing on the cake-definitely not necessary for a digital artist-not sure if you're familiar with his work but Chamba used to use a mouse for everything! and he was doing professional comics...so..where there's a will-as they say ;)
david puerta: thanks! hmm not sure-maybe? it would be fun but also challenging
lulu is very expensive... It's good if you're only going to print out a few copies. If I were you I'd get it done at a professional print house or through Brand Studio
ReplyDeleteBobby Chiu: k thanks Bobby-didn't know that
ReplyDeleteI think lulu does give good service. No upfront cost. I made a few books for myself and i liked the quality. Some great artists have use lulu too, like Shane Glines and Skottie Young.
ReplyDeleteFabian: ok cool good to know...I like 'no upfront costs' but I hear it comes at a higher price in the long run...looks like I'll have to weight my options a little more before making a decision :)
ReplyDeletethnx so much for the input!
