iPad art ebooks!

(maybe iPad will have a scanning app? lol)

With the announcement of the new iPad I got to thinking how awesome a high quality ebook could be.

The screen size is perfect for viewing some HD sketches and paintings etc and you could zoom in and possibly have some funky features to go with it.  I have to admit I was hoping the announcement was for Apples version of the Cintiq-paired with their Macbook Pro(sort of like an official Modbook)  But maybe this is still a possibility is some form via a Sketchbook Pro app with a stylus(like they have for iPhones?)

Anyways, I'm just thinkin outloud here-and chiming in on the buzz.  I would love to hear your thoughts about this new $499-$829 iPad gizmo!

cheers!
joe

*edit--HAHA whoops did Steve Jobs happen to see this?

  1. Feh. Over-hyped, over-sized iPhone. First two versions will probably suck ass too.

  3. Hey Joe, just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I dig your stuff. Your work is dynamic as hell and your Capcom stuff is some of the best I've seen.

  4. While I'm disapointed that it won't run OSX so I can use programs I already know and love I'm still looking forward to seeing how Sketchbook mobile and Brushes work on the ipad. Plus since I don' thave a iphone I can't bash the product for seemingly being a larger one.

  5. Michael Cho: hey buddy how goes! Thanks dude that means a lot comin' from you. Hopefully we have a few cons together this year!

Kazecat: I agree on all your points-although I do have an iPhone-so I think I need more from an iPad-hopefully an iTablet is in the works ;)

  6. Love your work. A tablet version would be awesome, but the stylus for an ipod/iphone is even less responsive than using a finger. The sketchbook app is cool, but nowhere near wacom quality. Hopefully we'll see one soon.

  7. Derek Edwards: Thanks Derek-ya, well if it can't replace my Cintiq/iMac combo I guess I won't be pickin it up-since I already have an iPhone-Don't get me wrong, I think it's a cool device-just not suited for me atm. I do hope for an iPad Pro or something like that? I'm sure it's in the works...I guess I mean I hope it comes very soon :)

  10. I don't know how well the ipad will do (I'm guessing there's more to it they're keeping close to the chest), but I hadn't considered yet how cool an e-sketchbook would be on it. Maybe I'll consider getting one after all, hmm. . .
