I recorded it (this is built into Procreate) and sped it up in the iMovie app. I also recorded some boring audio and uploaded the whole thing to YouTube. Took another 15-20 min break from freelance to add a little more gray tone chiseling to this one. The inspiration for this one came when @jakeparker posted a pic of a book of chickens. The cover had some crazy looking chicken with the funky 'hairstyle' you see here on this T-Rex looking beast. I almost want to skip the inking stage and continue on with gray markers to finish this one...but I won't in the interest of consistency. For those wanting to know what it looks like before I ink the drawings... I use the lightest gray marker I have like a warm Gray1 and start sketching loose shapes. When I start to see something I begin chiseling in a bit more form. I'll grab a warm gray 3 to block in some drop shadows and then start to ink. During the inking process I'll sometimes switch back to grays to draw in shapes or help clarify a rough spot. After all of that is done I will use the Gelly Roll white pen(or whatever has ink) and outline where I feel it needs it. Then I'll go back in with grays to tone the white down in spots. Anyway, this is the birth of a demon in the 3dimensional world. It is an abomination of forms fighting for the chance of manifestation. One will dominate and be granted a beastly body to bring chaos to the orderly world. Took a break from client work to squeeze in an Inktober submission. This one was rushed at 1hr 15min and I'm sure it shows. I don't think it's important to know how long it takes to do a drawing or painting as everyone is at different levels. It is however a question I receive frequently so I figure it will save me from answering again and again. Also...pentel brush pen, Copic wide warm grey markers and Gelly roll white. At the time of writing this the Battle Chasers:Night War game Kickstarter project only has 55hrs to go! I backed it and I'm so happy I did. The story behind how this warrior survived the encounter with the Blood Moon Abomination is a mystery. What we do know is that it came at great cost. He must now carry its head in place of his left arm. This beast demands to feed its blood lust with hapless victims. If refused, it will consume itself...and the warrior with it. -----Not sure if this drawing is done but the clock rang midnight...so I post as is. This sketchbook is the type where I tried to fill it with more finished looking ideas. So not really a sketchbook anymore. More of a series of test images. The designs of the characters were usually done on the fly but some are from previous drawings. I'm usually too lazy to look up reference so even those will change. Anyway.
